Nursing Research Advocacy Award

Nomination Period: February 3 - March 31

Purpose

The Nursing Research Advocacy Award recognizes a current or past FNINR ambassador who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to advocating for nursing research support at the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). This individual excels in communication strategies directed at congressional and political leaders, as well as community members, using various platforms and methods to raise awareness and drive support for nursing research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The nominee must be a current or past FNINR Ambassador.
  • The nominator does not need to be a current or past FNINR Ambassador.
  • There is no minimum length of service as an Ambassador, though years of service will be considered in scoring.
  • The nominee must have a documented history of advocacy through direct contact with political or community leaders.
  • Additional evidence of advocacy in other forums, such as social media, letters, speeches, or lectures, must be provided.

Award Selection Process

Both self-nominations and nominations of current or past FNINR ambassadors are encouraged. The FNINR Advocacy Committee will conduct a comprehensive review process and select the award recipient based on the established criteria. The recipient will be offered one complimentary ticket for the NightinGala with the expectation of being present to receive the award.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Years as Ambassador
  • Documented Contacts with Leaders or Community Members
    • Contacts may include meetings, phone calls, emails, and other forms of communication with members of Congress, state leaders, or community advocates.
    • Scoring will be based on the number of contacts made; level of influence (e.g., personal meetings vs. general emails); outcomes or impact of the outreach.
  • Other Evidence of Advocacy
    • Evidence may include social media campaigns/posts; published letters to the editor or opinion pieces; public lectures or speeches; participation in webinars or other educational outreach efforts.
